How effective is your Logo?

A logo can be described as a graphic mark, emblem, or symbol commonly used by commercial enterprises, organizations, and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition. There are purely graphic emblems, symbols, icons and logos, which are composed of the name of the organization. But..... Its much much more than that.

A logo should tell a story. All the great modern Logo's tell a story that resonates well with the consumers of the product. They are recognizable. Some are quirky, some invoke authority, some are fun and childish, but they all have one thing in common. The ability to illicit some kind of immediate emotion when someone comes across them. This is what we call a brand!

In what ways can we create a powerful brand?

Make it unique.

A great Logo is unique. It stands out.

Make it adaptable.

You need to ensure that your logo can suit a wide variety of circumstances. From the tiniest of print, to the biggest of billboards. It needs to be able to work on a wide range of materials, and media formats, some that you may not even know about as they are yet to be invented. An adaptable logo is a responsive logo.

Make it timeless.

A timeless logo is one that can stand the test of time. I believe timeless logos are simple. Making trendy or "in fashion' logos is the wrong way to go. Let your logo tell a story about your brand, its strengths, how you want people to feel when they see it. If you do that, you are well on your way to creating a timeless logo.

How much should a logo cost?

There are three common types of logo pricing used in the design industry today.

Hourly Rate
For a logo design. Research, application, A/B testing, focus group feedback are all part of the process for developing a great logo. Its not simply drawing a design, but it is a process.

Package Rates
Depends on the use for the logo. A packaged rate is mostly used for complete branding applications, and will include a brand manual.
