2016 was a year that was fraught with many interesting events. Some good, Some bad. Depending on where you are standing. There were some great Ads as well. Here at Admrkt we love Ads. Here is a run down of some stand out Ads:
1. Mtn Dew Kickstart: Puppymonkeybaby | Super Bowl Spot
28,519,115 views
Why we loved it: Superbowl Ads are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, hence the need to really stretch your imagination if you are going to delve into such a prestigious arena of creative supremacy. Mountain Dew came up with an Odd concept, which was effective. Puppymonkeybaby, Puppymonkeybaby, you can even dance to it its so catchy. The first 10 seconds you are wondering whats going on, then you get it.
2. John Lewis Christmas Advert 2016 - #BusterTheBoxer
24,970,852 views
Why we loved it: The Ad sets the scene almost immediately. The cinematography was simply stellar. As it is a "Christmas" Ad it was essential that the stereotypical 'feel' of Christmas was present, and they nailed that on the head. The simple story that had a measure of suspense was well developed, to reveal an outcome that was warm, amusing but ultimately memorable. Brilliant
3. Sainsbury's OFFICIAL Christmas advert 2016 -The Greatest Gift
17,469,313 views
Why we loved it: This another "Christmas" (What is it with Christmas?) Ad that set the 'mood' pretty well. As opposed to the John Lewis Ad, Sainsbury's used their usual animation to explore the concepts of hard work, but the overall desire to meet our families needs and desires. It comes in at a long 3+ minutes which make it more of a promotional video than a traditional Ad. Entertaining. (also see Mogs Christmas Calamity)
4. P&G Thank You, Mom - Strong | Rio 2016 Olympic Games
22,362,841 views
Why we loved it: The best Ads are the ones that appeal to real emotions, and can cut across racial, ethnic, national divides. Nothing is as universal as a child's bond to its mother. P&G used this well with their Rio 2016 Ad that thanked mothers. With over 22 Million views and counting, the world responded. Tear jerker alert.
5. Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se Mulakat Ho Gai Full Song || Valentine day Special
Why we loved it: Ok, we know its over 3 minutes long, and its not in English. However the story is so clear and straight forward you dont need to understand it. Its an Ad for Gum! Let that sink in for a second. Its for gum.
